KIM&CHANG said on the 18th that on the 25th it will co-host a seminar titled "Analysis and evaluation of subordinate regulations under the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Framework Act" with the Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI) and the Korea Information & Communication Law Association.
The Artificial Intelligence Framework Act, which passed the National Assembly's plenary session on Dec. 26 last year, is a comprehensive AI promotion and regulation law enacted second in the world after the European Union (EU). On the 8th, the related subordinate regulations were released, and other notices and guidelines will be made public going forward. The subordinate regulations of the Artificial Intelligence Framework Act set out compliance requirements such as risk management to be observed in AI development and use, user protection, obligations to explain outcomes, and labeling obligations required for services using generative AI such as deepfakes.
At the seminar to be held at 2 p.m. on the 25th at the Crescendo Building in Jongno-gu, Jeong Won-jun, head of the AI Legislation Team at the Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI), will present on the overall subordinate regulations under the theme "Evaluation of the entire subordinate regulations under the Artificial Intelligence Framework Act and future tasks." Next, KIM&CHANG attorneys Ma Kyung-tae and Kim Yu-jin will each present under the themes "Analysis and evaluation of subordinate regulations on high-impact AI under the Artificial Intelligence Framework Act" and "Analysis and evaluation of subordinate regulations related to transparency obligations, investigations, and sanctions under the Artificial Intelligence Framework Act."
Afterward, Lee Seong-yeob, a Korea University professor and president of the Korea Information & Communication Law Association, will serve as moderator for a general discussion featuring experts from academia, government, industry, and the legal community. ▲ Gye In-guk, professor at the Graduate School of Public Administration, Korea University ▲ Kim Gyeong-man, Director General (Director-General for AI Policy at the Ministry of Science and ICT) ▲ Dr. Ra Gi-won (Korea Legislation Research Institute (KLRI)) ▲ Park Seon-min, country lead of Google Korea ▲ Park So-young, Researcher (National Assembly Research Service) ▲ Son Ji-yoon, executive director at Naver ▲ Lee Seung-min, professor at the School of Law, Sungkyunkwan University ▲ Lee Jeong-cheol, foreign attorney at KIM&CHANG will participate as panelists.
Professor Lee Seong-yeob, who planned this seminar, said, "This seminar will be a meaningful occasion to discuss in depth the detailed provisions of the regulations that the authorities have deliberated on and their on-site application plans, and to deepen understanding between the industry and policymakers."
