It was reported on the 18th that first lady Kim Keon-hee, who is being held at the Seoul Southern Detention Center, received treatment at an outside hospital for health reasons.
Attorney Yu Jeong-hwa, a member of Kim's legal team, said in a notice to the press that day, "At around 4 p.m. on the 17th (the previous day), first lady Kim Keon-hee received outpatient treatment at a hospital within the Southern Detention Center due to severe hypotension, among other issues."
Earlier, the special counsel probing Kim Keon-hee indicted Kim on the 29th of last month. Kim faces allegations including the "Deutsch Motors stock manipulation case," the "Gun Jin beopsa Unification Church solicitation allegation," and the "Myung Tae-gyun nomination interference allegation." There are also matters not yet disclosed, including the luxury necklace allegation.
Meanwhile, immediately after the special counsel's indictment, Kim issued a statement saying, "I will not turn away from the path set before me and will quietly stand trial." Kim's side says it will clarify the related allegations in court.
