The Seoul city government said on the 18th that it finalized next year's living wage at 12,121 won per hour. That is up 2.9% (342 won) from this year's living wage (11,779 won).
Converted to a monthly salary, that is 2,533,289 won. This is based on working 40 hours a week, 209 hours a month.
The living wage finalized this time by the Seoul city government will apply for one year starting Jan. 1 next year. It will cover a total of about 14,000 people, including directly employed workers affiliated with the Seoul city government and city-funded and invested institutions, workers at subsidiaries of Seoul city investment institutions, workers at privately commissioned institutions (100% city-funded), and participants in the Attractive Jobs program.
A Seoul city official said, "We will continue to put into practice the city administration value of accompanying the underprivileged, including improving workers' quality of life."
