Lee & Ko (Managing Partner Kim Sang-gon) said on the 15th that it has hired attorney Kim Hu-gon, a former chief of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office (25th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute).
Attorney Kim Hu-gon served as chief of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office, chief of the Daegu District Prosecutors' Office, and chief of the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office, directing cases at prosecutors' offices nationwide and being regarded as a "special investigations expert." Kim investigated a range of major corruption cases as head of the Special Investigations Division 1 at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, head of the Special Investigations Division at the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office, and senior research officer at the Anti-Corruption Department of the Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office, and also handled information technology (IT)–related cases and personal data infringement cases at the Advanced Crime Investigation Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, covering diverse criminal fields.
In 2008, Kim also served as a legal adviser on major issues such as mergers in the telecommunications and broadcasting industries and sports broadcasting rights through a secondment to the Korea Communications Commission. In addition, Kim was a leader of the "AI blockchain community" within the prosecution service and, as Deputy Minister for Planning and Coordination at the Justice Ministry, directly drafted key policies for justice and prosecution. Kim also served as Commissioner on the Sentencing Commission of the Supreme Court as the head of the Public Trial and Litigation Department at the Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office, and handled overall IT technology–related affairs as director of information and communications at the Supreme Public Prosecutors' Office.
Kim will lead Lee & Ko's criminal practice group to enhance its expertise and will be responsible for corporate criminal matters and legislative support work such as statutory interpretation across areas including corporations, finance, serious industrial accidents, fair trade, and tariff.
