According to the police on the 5th, the Geumcheon Police Station received reports of 14 cases of small payment fraud targeting KT users since the 26th of last month. The total amount of damage is approximately 8 million won.
Victims residing in Geumcheon District reported to the police that tens of thousands of won had been withdrawn from their mobile phones for mobile gift certificate purchases and transportation card recharges.
Previously, many KT users in Gwangmyeong also reported to the police that they had suffered damages related to small mobile payments. As of the 2nd, the number of victims is 26. The scale of the damages, which includes an 804,000 won recharge for mobile gift certificates, is said to total 17.69 million won over 62 instances.
