The qualifications of Kim Keon-hee, the spouse of former President Yoon Suk-yeol, as a 'Level 2 middle school teacher' will be revoked.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 4th that it has recently completed procedures, including a hearing, and decided to revoke Kim's qualifications.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education is said to have notified Kim's side to review the hearing results and records. However, it has been reported that Kim, who is currently detained at the Seoul Southern Detention Center, did not submit a separate opinion statement.
If no opinion is provided regarding the review of the hearing records, the revocation of teaching qualifications will be confirmed. The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education plans to notify the Ministry of Education, the qualification issuance institution Sookmyung Women's University, and Kim's side of the confirmation of the revocation.
Meanwhile, Kim obtained her teacher certification with a master's degree from the Graduate School of Education at Sookmyung Women's University in 1999 for her thesis titled "A Study on the Characteristics of Paul Klee's Paintings." However, Sookmyung Women's University canceled Kim's master's degree in June due to plagiarism in her thesis. Afterward, as a follow-up measure, the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education requested the revocation of Kim's teacher certification.
