A stabbing incident occurred at a restaurant located in Gwanak District, Seoul, resulting in the deaths of three people. The suspect underwent surgery after injuring himself and is currently receiving treatment in an intensive care unit. Police plan to apply for an arrest warrant on murder charges.
According to police, at around 10:57 a.m. on the 3rd, the owner of the franchise pizza store, Mr. A, 41, stabbed three individuals: Mr. B, 49, a company employee, and Mr. C, 60, and Mr. D, 32, who were both interior contractors.
The three victims were transported to a nearby hospital shortly after the stabbing but succumbed to their injuries. Mr. C and Mr. D were reportedly father and daughter. Mr. A was rescued while attempting to make an extreme choice.
According to police, Mr. A had been in conflict with the victims regarding the store's interior. It is reported that on that day, he wielded a sharp weapon after an argument about the interior.
In connection with this, the franchise headquarters of the pizza store issued a statement that day, saying, "The store involved in the incident opened in October 2023 and has maintained a very friendly relationship with the headquarters while operating for two years. I understand that a conflict arose regarding repairs with the interior company that the owner directly contracted."
It added, "One of the deceased victims was an executive from the headquarters who visited this morning with the representative of the interior company and the representative's daughter (designer) to mediate the conflict between the interior company and the owner," and noted, "Since starting the franchise business, we have never forced owners to renovate or change their interior even once."
Police plan to thoroughly investigate the discussions between the headquarters and franchise stores, the details of the specific conflicts, and the circumstances of the crime.
Additionally, regarding Mr. A, police plan to secure him as soon as he is discharged and apply for an arrest warrant on murder charges after questioning.
