Coupang partners with Geumsan County to support ginseng farms.
Coupang announced on the 3rd that it will hold the 'Geumsan Ginseng Win-Win Promotion' and sell over 1,200 types of Geumsan ginseng products at discounts of up to 10%. The event is organized by Geumsan County and operated by the Geumsan Ginseng and Herbal Industry Promotion Agency. The duration runs until the end of November.
This event was organized to expand sales channels for excellent agricultural and fishery products ahead of the Chuseok holiday and to widely promote the quality and competitiveness of Geumsan ginseng. Coupang and Geumsan County support the expense of promotions to increase sales for local small businesses. Coupang will display Geumsan ginseng on the main screen of the Coupang app and carry out various marketing activities. Customers can purchase a variety of Geumsan ginseng products, including fresh ginseng, extracts, cut ginseng, and health drinks, at reasonable prices.
Coupang and Geumsan County have supported local ginseng farmers through various forms of cooperation. In November 2023, they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to expand sales channels for local specialties and improve farmers' incomes. Since then, they have continued practical support through sales channel expansion, marketing support, and consultation meetings for vendor entry.
This cooperation has also led to the development of private label (PB) products. Coupang's private label subsidiary, CPLB, collaborated with Geumsan County to launch 10 PB products such as 'GomGom Geumsan Ginseng' and 'GomGom Ginseng to Drink' in July 2023. These products have seen a 490% increase in monthly sales within 10 months of their launch, receiving a great response from consumers.
Park Beom-in, the governor of Geumsan County, said, 'Cooperation with Coupang provides a practical outlet for ginseng farmers and small businesses,' and noted, 'Geumsan County will continue to support efforts to enhance the competitiveness of the ginseng industry in the future.'
