The special investigation team is attempting again on the 3rd to conduct a search and seizure related to the "allegation of obstructing the National Assembly's vote on the lifting of martial law" at the People Power Party's floor leader's office and the floor administration department. The special investigation team had also attempted a search and seizure at these locations on the 2nd but was thwarted by the opposition party's backlash.
The special investigation team has been attempting a search and seizure at the People Power Party's floor leader's office and administrative department since the morning of that day. Previously, the special investigation team had attempted a search and seizure the day before, but it was reported that they withdrew due to resistance from the People Power Party.
The special investigation team is investigating allegations that the People Power Party leadership, including then-floor leader Choo Kyung-ho, obstructed the attendance of lawmakers at the National Assembly vote during the process of lifting the emergency martial law on December 3. At that time, the National Assembly's "resolution demanding the lifting of the emergency martial law" was passed with 190 present and 190 in favor, with only 18 of the 108 People Power Party lawmakers participating at 1:02 a.m. on the 4th.
In relation to this, the special investigation team conducted a search and seizure on the 2nd at the home and office of Representative Choo and in the office of People Power Party Representative Jo Ji-yeon. Representative Jo is reported to have stayed in the floor leader's office immediately after the declaration of martial law and did not participate in the vote regarding the demand to lift the martial law.
