On the morning of the 3rd in the Jowon-dong area of Gwanak-gu, Seoul (formerly Sinlim 8-dong), a stabbing incident occurred, resulting in three deaths and one injury.
According to police and fire authorities, the stabbing incident occurred around 10:50 a.m. at a restaurant in Jowon-dong. The police and fire department responded to a report that "four people had collapsed from knife injuries" at around 10:57 a.m.
Two men who were injured and collapsed at the scene were transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest but died. A woman who was severely injured and transported to the hospital also died. All three victims have died.
A man surnamed A, who sustained minor injuries, is receiving treatment at the hospital. A is the suspect who carried out the stabbing incident and is the owner of the restaurant.
A managed the restaurant alone, with occasional assistance from family members. A man surnamed B, who operates a supermarket nearby, said of A, "He had a good impression and was friendly." A man surnamed C, who runs a hardware store, noted, "There were no conflicts with the neighbors."
A Gwanak-gu official said regarding the situation at the time of the incident, "I understand that two men and one woman visited the restaurant regarding the interior design."
A police official stated, "This is not a random stabbing incident. It is presumed that there was a conflict related to business," adding that "the suspects are not foreigners."
