A man in his 30s was sentenced to a prison term in the first trial for stealing valuable items from the home of broadcaster Park Na-rae (40).
Director General Park Ji-won of the Seoul Western District Court sentenced Jeong Mo (37) to 2 years in prison on the charges of theft and breaking and entering on the night of the crime on the 3rd.
Jeong is accused of breaking into Park Na-rae's home located in Yongsan District, Seoul, on April 4th and stealing valuables worth millions of won. Immediately after the incident, Park Na-rae's side reported the damage to the police, who arrested Jeong for questioning.
Director General Park noted, "The defendant acknowledged the facts of the charges and returned the stolen goods to the victim," but added, "Considering that he has a similar criminal record, the items stolen were high-value, and the victim requested severe punishment," she explained the reasons for the sentencing.
Woo Mo and Jang Mo, who were also indicted alongside Jeong, were each fined 2 million won and 3 million won for the charge of acquiring stolen property through negligence.
