In the future, employees of the Seoul Metropolitan Government will be able to utilize 29 artificial intelligence (AI) models, including ChatGPT and Gemini, for administrative tasks. Until now, they could only use one designated AI model, but now they will be allowed to choose according to the nature of their work.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 3rd that it will implement a generative AI capability service called 'Seoul AI Chat' and pilot its application in work by December.
Since last year, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has been providing a subscription service for employees wishing to use generative AI in their work. At that time, 570 people were recruited, but reportedly more than four times that number applied.
Accordingly, the Seoul Metropolitan Government has decided to allow all employees to use various generative AI models, unlike the subscription plan that had previously only allowed specific models. However, the Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the existing subscription and capacity plans, as well as review usage amounts and frequencies, satisfaction, service quality, etc., to decide on full implementation next year.
Kang Ok-hyun, head of the Digital City Department of Seoul, said, "In the future, we will utilize AI as an administrative tool that citizens can experience, transforming Seoul's AI administration from being the first in the nation to becoming a 'national standard.'"
