A kidnapping attempt occurred near an elementary school in Hongje-dong, Seodaemun District, and the school requested parents to be cautious.
Hongje-dong A Elementary School stated in a notice distributed on 1st that "two unfamiliar men in a white vehicle approached children near the back gate of a nearby elementary school and the playground of the Pobang Market public parking lot over the weekend, suggesting to take them home."
The school noted, "Fortunately, there were no major incidents." It added, "We are strengthening education and guidance to ensure that children can live safely at school," and emphasized that "it is very important for families to review and understand the child kidnapping prevention rules with their children again."
The school notified parents of the "five safety rules children must know." When students are approached by a stranger saying, "I will give you a ride," they should shout loudly "No" or "I don't want to" to refuse, and immediately run to a store or a crowded safe place.
