On this day, Mayor Oh visited the construction site of the Seoul Arena, scheduled to be completed in the first half of 2027, to check on the progress of construction and safety management.
The Seoul Arena is a facility that the Seoul city government began construction on in November 2023, aiming to be the largest specialized performance and multi-cultural space in the country. It will consist of a 'specialized performance venue' that can accommodate up to 28,000 spectators simultaneously and a 'medium-sized performance venue' that can hold up to 7,000 people, along with commercial facilities.
The performance venue will be equipped with state-of-the-art sound systems and stage setups. Through this, the Seoul city government plans to complete it as a specialized venue for popular music that satisfies not only K-pop but also global artists and performance production companies.
The Seoul city government noted that the Seoul Arena will be a starting point to address the long-standing needs of the popular music and cultural industries.
According to the Seoul city government, as of September, the construction progress of the Seoul Arena is at 34%. This is 114% faster than the original plan.
