A national fire deployment order was issued on the 30th of last month for Gangneung, Gangwon Province, which is suffering from severe drought damage, prompting firefighters and fire trucks to gather from across the country, and expressions of gratitude and encouragement for them are continuing.
Heo Young-jun, who runs "Heo's Coffee" in Gangmun-dong, Gangneung, announced through social media that he will offer free coffee to firefighters.
Heo said, "As a disaster alert has been issued, firefighters from across the country are gathering in Gangneung. I wanted to show my appreciation and invite them for a cup of coffee when they can return, so I gathered the courage to post this message."
He added, "I'm providing coffee drinks for the firefighters when they return, so please come by without feeling burdened. I have no other way to convey my gratitude but this, so feel free to drop by."
Heo had also provided free coffee to firefighters during the Gangneung Gyeongpo wildfire in April 2023. In addition, messages expressing gratitude for firefighters traveling from other regions to Gangneung are continuing in the Gangneung community.
