On the 1st, Yoon & Yang LLC announced that it had recruited Kim Young-joo (35th Judicial Research and Training Institute) and Kim Min-joo (6th Bar Exam) as partner attorneys, both of whom have strengths in the acquisition and merger (M&A) of private equity (PE) and venture capital (VC).
The two attorneys were key lawyers at LAB Partners, where they showcased their skills in PE, VC, and mid-cap M&A. LAB Partners is a law firm established by attorneys who were previously in charge of the financial and M&A institutional sector at Shin & Kim LLC.
Previously, Yoon & Yang LLC first recruited representative attorney Yoon Hee-woong, an M&A expert, in May. Following this, attorneys Lee Jin-guk, Ryu Myung-hyun (senior foreign attorney from New York), and Yoon So-young joined, allowing Yoon & Yang LLC to build a comprehensive structure covering all areas of M&A, capital markets, and corporate advisory.
Attorney Kim Young-joo graduated from the Department of Law at Korea University and completed the 35th Judicial Research and Training Institute. She began her legal career in 2009 at Shin & Kim LLC, where she excelled in corporate advisory and finance across PE and VC, capital market regulations, acquisition finance, and structured finance. After that, she worked at KL Partners and in 2018 served as a founding member and representative attorney at LAB Partners.
Attorney Kim Young-joo played a crucial role in major domestic and international PE and VC transactions, including the acquisition of Korea's Special Gas by SGPE, the acquisition of SeA Mechanics by Keystone PE, the acquisition of ORION Technology by Highland PE, and the acquisition of KFC Korea by Orchestra PE. She also led the 'big deal' of selling Kyungjin and Dongjin Textile to MBK Partners for 790 billion won.
Attorney Kim Min-joo has dealt with various industries in M&A, corporate governance, management disputes, and corporate finance issues at LAB Partners. She graduated from the Department of Law at Seoul National University and the Ewha Womans University Law School.
Having been responsible for numerous mid-cap transactions over eight years, she directly managed all stages from structural design to fund formation, due diligence, regulatory review, and transaction closure. She notably led the investments in Kyobo Life Insurance by Japan's SBI Holdings, the acquisition of PowerMax by Tenet Equity Partners, the acquisition of ORION Technology by Highland PE, and the acquisition of Goodflow by SK Energy.
With the addition of these two attorneys, Yoon & Yang LLC plans to enhance its advisory capabilities from large transactions in the PE and VC markets to mid-cap deals and strengthen its competitiveness in domestic and international M&A.
