A train on Seoul Subway Lines 2 and 6 passed through Hapjeong Station without stopping on the afternoon of the 1st.
The Seoul Transport Corporation noted in a disaster text message sent at about 4:56 p.m. on the 1st that trains on Seoul Subway Lines 2 and 6 were passing through Hapjeong Station without stopping in both directions. Smoke was observed on the Hapjeong Station platform.
According to the Seoul Transport Corporation, at around 4:18 p.m. that day, smoke was emitted from a battery held by a passenger at the Hapjeong Station platform, and a burning smell was also detected. Firefighters who were dispatched upon receiving the report carried out firefighting operations, and by around 4:37 p.m., the battery fire had been completely extinguished.
At the request of station staff, trains began passing through Hapjeong Station without stopping around 4:31 p.m. The Line 2 train resumed service at 5:02 p.m., and the Line 6 train resumed at 5:07 p.m.
