The Ministry of the Interior and Safety's National Disaster Management Research Institute announced on the 1st that it will conduct a '2025 Disaster Damage Recovery Level Survey' targeting major disaster victims until October 31.

The survey is conducted once a year. It identifies the damage status of victims of large-scale disasters that occurred over the past three years and the difficulties they face in the recovery process of their daily lives. The results of the survey will be utilized for research on disaster support policies and system improvements.

This year's survey will be conducted in a face-to-face interview format by professional surveyors visiting 2,700 victims who experienced major disasters from 2022 to 2024. The victims include those affected by the 2022 wildfires in the eastern coasts of Gyeongbuk and Gangwon, heavy rain from Typhoon Hinnamnor, the 2023 wildfires in Hongseong and Gangneung, heavy rain, and Typhoon Khanun, as well as those affected by heavy rain and heavy snowfall in 2024.

The survey will consist of 189 questions across seven areas. It will focus on changes in life due to disaster damage, evaluations of national support, and requests for policy improvements.

Disaster victims wishing to participate in the survey can apply on the National Disaster Management Research Institute's website by the 15th.

The results of this year's survey will be released on the policy research management system in December.

Oh Geum-ho, the head of the National Disaster Management Research Institute, said, "We will faithfully reflect the voices of disaster victims so that citizens who are struggling due to disaster damage can swiftly recover their daily lives."
