As the controversy over excessive pricing at tourist spots continues, a famous sashimi restaurant in Busan's Jagalchi Market has also been embroiled in a pricing dispute.
On the 29th of last month, an official Instagram post from the automobile community "Bobaedream" stated, "At a certain sashimi restaurant in Jagalchi, Busan, a plate of sea cucumber cost 70,000 won. Is this reasonable?"
The author, a person surnamed A, who resides in Busan, shared, "A few days ago, I had a very unpleasant experience." He recounted that he ordered two portions of sashimi set priced at 43,000 won per person and a sea cucumber marked as 'market price' at a well-known sashimi restaurant with plaques and certificates hanging on the wall.
However, contrary to expectations, the sea cucumber was lukewarm and had an unpleasant texture, prompting him to eat only a few pieces before requesting a takeaway. Upon checking the bill, A discovered that in addition to the sashimi set costing 86,000 won, there was an additional charge of 70,000 won listed under 'sashimi.' This item was the price of the sea cucumber.
A questioned the price, but the owner simply replied, "That's the price for sea cucumber," and refunded him 5,000 won. However, A stated, "The issue was not the amount but the attitude," adding, "I felt insulted by the way they charged the amount under the name of market price without any explanation and tried to brush it off by refunding a few thousand won."
He pointed out, "There were only a few pieces of sea cucumber in a container the size of a palm, and at sashimi centers or other sashimi restaurants, this would be considered a service level," stating, "If these exorbitant prices continue in the tourist city of Busan, it will ultimately be the citizens who suffer."
Earlier, a street vendor near Haedong Yonggungsa Temple in Busan faced controversy for charging 3,000 won for a single fish cake, prompting the district of Gijang to conduct an on-site inspection and file a report against the vendor.
