With the unlimited use subscription card known as the Climate Companion Card, operated by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, residents will also be able to use the Hangang Bus. Discounts for families with multiple children and youth benefits will be introduced.
Seoul City announced that starting from the 14th of next month, a new type of Climate Companion Card that allows for the use of the Hangang Bus will be released, and tailored discounts will be expanded.
The Hangang Bus is a water transportation service that operates between seven ferry terminals: Magok, Mangwon, Yeouido, Jamwon, Oksoon, Ttukseom, and Jamsil. It is scheduled to officially open on September 18. The fare is 3,000 won for a one-way trip, 1,800 won for youth, and 1,100 won for children.
The Hangang Bus version of the Climate Companion Card will have an additional 5,000 won on top of the existing fare. Citizens who previously used the subway and buses for 60,000 won over 30 days can now use the Hangang Bus for 67,000 won. The Hangang Bus version will be available starting on the 14th of next month. Seoul City plans to explore the possibility of allowing the use of the Hangang Bus with a short-term Climate Companion Card as well.
Seoul City will provide discounts on the Climate Companion Card fees for youth (ages 13-18), parents of multiple children, and low-income households. The fees for the subway and bus only 30-day general ticket are as follows: ▲ 55,000 won for youth ▲ 55,000 won for parents with two children ▲ 45,000 won for parents with three or more children ▲ 45,000 won for low-income households (basic livelihood security recipients and those in the next lowest class).
Until now, the Climate Companion Card provided a discount of 55,000 won for young people (ages 19-39). Considering that youth had to pay the same price as those over 40, Seoul City has prepared new discount benefits.
Not only residents of Seoul but also residents from local governments participating in the Climate Companion Card policy, such as Gimpo City, Namyangju City, Guri City, Gwacheon City, Goyang City, Seongnam City, and Hanam City in Gyeonggi Province, will receive the same benefits.
