Kim Keon-hee expressed her feelings regarding being arrested and indicted by the special counsel on the 29th.
A lawyer from Kim's legal team, Yoo Jeong-hwa, delivered a statement written by Kim herself on this day.
In the statement, Kim noted, "I will not turn away from the path that has been given to me and will quietly engage in the trial." She also stated, "I will sincerely appear for the special counsel's investigation regarding any allegations in the future."
She also expressed her feelings directly. Kim said, "I am truly sorry for this situation that has caused concern to the public, and every day is nothing short of torment." She added, "I will not make excuses under any circumstances."
She further commented, "Just as the moonlight shines brightly on the darkest night, I will endure this time while looking at my truth and heart."
Earlier, the special counsel arrested and indicted Kim on charges of violating the Capital Market Act, violating the Political Fund Act, and receiving bribes under the Special Cases Act. Kim was arrested on the 12th for her involvement in violating the Capital Market Act (the Deutsche Motors stock manipulation case), allegations of interfering in the 2022 and 2024 elections under the Political Fund Act, and receiving bribes under the Special Punishments Act (allegations of bribery through Chief Justice Kim Jin-seok of the Unification Church).
