According to the police, Incheon Police Agency received a 112 report around 10 a.m. from two high schools in Seo-gu and Ganghwa-gun, stating that they had received a 'threat of explosives being planted.' The schools received a fax stating, 'Explosives have been planted.'
After the fax threatening explosive placement was received, students and staff evacuated. Police confirmed that no explosives were found on campus.
The high school in Ganghwa-gun sent all students home, while the Seo-gu high school was reported to continue classes.
According to police, around 12:30 a.m. on the same day, a threat fax claiming explosives had been planted also arrived at a high school in Dong-gu, Busan. The fax stated that it was scheduled to explode that afternoon. A school official checked the fax after arriving at work and reported it to 112.
The fax document contained a message stating, 'Multiple high-powered bombs utilizing over 500 students have been planted. They are expected to explode this afternoon.' This fax is reported to have been sent from Japan. The school stopped classes and evacuated over 500 students.
Another high school in Nam-gu, Busan also received a threat fax regarding explosive placement. The fax is reportedly sent from Japan. A commotion occurred as over 600 students at this school also evacuated.
The day before, a fax claiming explosives had been planted at seven high schools in Seoul was received, causing students to evacuate and classes to be suspended at some schools.
