Shockingly unsanitary conditions in the kitchens of popular delivery restaurants with high ratings have come to light, sparking controversy.
On the 27th, a post titled 'Shocking hygiene conditions in the kitchen of a famous delivery restaurant' appeared on the online community 'Bobaedream.'
A whistleblower, referred to as Mr. A, noted that 'the restaurant in question had been known as a highly-rated place on delivery apps,' and released photos of the kitchen. The kitchen in the photos was covered in yellow grease around the gas stove, and old stains remained on the countertop tiles.
The cutting board was severely discolored, and a fly was sitting on it. The sink was cluttered with mold and garbage, and the food ingredient management was a mess. Eggs that needed to be refrigerated were left at room temperature, and half-cooked food was left in the frying pan.
Those who saw the photos expressed strong displeasure. Reactions included, 'It could be clean if they just tidied up 10 minutes before closing, this is so irresponsible,' 'The famous delivery restaurant I know has an even worse kitchen,' and 'I can't even think about ordering delivery food for a while.'
One netizen shared, 'I have been to a highly-rated naengmyeon and tonkatsu delivery place, and I was shocked to see the smell of a decaying drain and the terrible cooking environment. That place still has high ratings and is very popular,' adding, 'Not all delivery places are like that, but since then, I only order from places that operate their own offline stores.'
