The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that as of 5 a.m. on the 26th, it activated the first stage of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters. This follows the issuance of heavy rain advisory in five regions, including Sejong, Gyeonggi, North Chungcheong, South Chungcheong, and North Jeolla.
The first stage of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters is activated when a heavy rain advisory is enforced in four or more regions or a heavy rain warning is issued in three or more regions, as prescribed by the enforcement decree of the Meteorological Law.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the weather nationwide is generally cloudy, and rain is expected in most areas until the afternoon. Some areas will experience rain until nighttime, with 30 to 50 mm of rainfall per hour in eastern Gyeonggi, North Chungcheong, and North Jeolla.
Deputy Minister Yun Ho-jung said, "Continuously provide warnings about hazardous weather in riverbanks, valleys, and camping sites, and establish a system for immediate evacuation in case of risk."
At the same time, Deputy Minister Yun said, "Proactively control underground passages and parking lots in case of flooding concerns, and ensure thorough monitoring and resident evacuations in habitual flooding areas such as semi-basement apartments."
Additionally, Deputy Minister Yun stated, "While monitoring landslide and flood risk information in real-time, please manage the situation thoroughly, and in case of risk, actively utilize emergency disaster texts, local broadcasts, and civil defense broadcasting equipment to quickly inform residents about disaster information."
