Hotel employees who were negligent in facility management have been handed over to prosecutors in connection with the incident where a chandelier fell and injured wedding guests.
The Jeonju Deokjin Police Station in North Jeolla Province stated on the 26th that it has forwarded hotel managing director A and facility maintenance staff member B to prosecutors on charges of causing injury due to professional negligence.
A and others are accused of injuring two guests during a wedding held at a hotel in Deokjin District, Jeonju, at around 11:25 a.m. on March 22.
At the time, one guest was struck on the head by the chandelier that fell from the ceiling, while another guest was injured on the leg by glass shards that bounced off the floor.
Immediately after the incident, startled guests evacuated outside, causing a great commotion.
The police have been investigating the hotel's poor facility management and have filed criminal charges against A and B.
A police official noted, "All of the suspects charged are responsible for maintaining the facilities of the wedding venue," adding, "We have concluded that the charges have been substantiated through investigations of related parties and have forwarded the case to the prosecutors."
In response, the hotel stated, "We are currently in the process of reaching an agreement with the injured victims," and added, "We are in regular contact with the victims to restore damages and will finalize the agreement soon."
