At the scene of a death investigation in Incheon, the gold necklace worn by the deceased has gone missing, prompting police to begin investigations into related individuals.
According to the Incheon Police Agency's Criminal Investigation Division, a report was received by 119 on the afternoon of the 20th that a man in his 50s, referred to as Mr. A, was not breathing at a villa in Namdong District, Incheon.
Fire authorities who arrived at the scene confirmed that Mr. A was already dead and handed over the case to the police, who began investigating the cause of death.
However, during the investigation, it was revealed that a gold necklace worth 11 million won (20 don) that Mr. A was wearing had gone missing.
In a photograph of the deceased taken by a detective from the Namdong Police Station who was the first to respond to the scene, the gold necklace was visible, but it was not seen in the photographs taken by the Incheon Police Agency's Scientific Investigation Division.
The police officers who responded to the scene at that time suspected insider involvement and searched each other's bodies, but the gold necklace was not found.
In response, the police began investigations involving five officers, including two detectives who responded to the scene, one researcher, and two employees from the Scientific Investigation Division.
A police official noted, "The whereabouts of the gold necklace have not yet been confirmed," and stated, "We entrusted the investigation to the Criminal Investigation Division to conduct it neutrally and fairly."
