The Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) held an emergency management meeting to strengthen safety management related to the Mugunghwa-ho train accident in Cheongdo, North Gyeongsang Province, in a video conference room at its Daejeon headquarters, with all department heads from across the country gathered on the afternoon of the 22nd.
The meeting was chaired by Jeong Jeong-rae, vice president of KORAIL, following the approval of the dismissal of former President Han Moon-hee. Ex-President Han expressed her deep responsibility for the accident and submitted her resignation to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, which was accepted on the same day.
Jeong Jeong-rae, vice president of KORAIL, noted, "I deeply apologize for causing concern to the public due to the accident involving the workers, and we will concentrate all our efforts to re-establish safety in the railway field."
