On the 21st, the Jeollanam-do Fire Department rescued all three injured individuals from a gas poisoning incident presumed to have occurred at a concrete plant in the Suncheon General Industrial Complex.
At around 1:29 p.m. the same day, the fire authorities, after receiving a report, discovered three individuals in a state of unconsciousness inside an above-ground tank at the factory and rescued a 60-year-old Korean man at around 3:16 p.m.
Subsequently, around 3:33 p.m., the second injured person (57-year-old male) was rescued, and around 3:42 p.m., the third injured individual, a 53-year-old man, was taken out of the tank, completing the rescue operation.
The first rescued individual, the 60-year-old man, was taken to the hospital in a state of having breath and pulse.
The other two individuals were transported to the hospital in a state of cardiac arrest.
While it was initially reported that the three injured individuals were from an external contractor, their identities were confirmed to be employees of that concrete plant during the rescue operation.
Police and labor authorities are investigating the circumstances, noting that one worker engaged in cleaning the chemical storage tank could not come out, prompting two others to enter to rescue him, resulting in the accident.
