On the 21st, the special investigation team conducted a search and seizure at the National Assembly Secretariat regarding the allegations of obstructing the vote to lift the martial law.
The special investigation team sent investigators to the National Assembly Secretariat in Yeouido, Seoul, for a search and seizure, it was reported. Deputy Special Prosecutor Park Ji-young noted during a press briefing that, "Only the National Assembly Secretariat was included as the target of the search and seizure related to the obstruction of the vote to lift the martial law."
The special investigation team is investigating allegations that the leadership of the People Power Party, including then-floor leader Chugyeong-ho, obstructed lawmakers' attendance at the National Assembly vote during the process of lifting the emergency martial law. At that time, the National Assembly's 'resolution demanding the lifting of the emergency martial law' was passed at 1:02 a.m. on December 4th, with only 18 out of 108 People Power Party lawmakers participating in a total of 190 present and 190 in favor.
Deputy Special Prosecutor Park also stated, "We are investigating former Minister Park Sang-woo as a witness from 10 a.m. today."
The special investigation team is reportedly investigating the situation of the Cabinet meeting held at the time of declaring the emergency martial law against former Minister Park.
Former Minister Park did not attend the Cabinet meeting held at approximately 10:17 p.m. on December 3rd last year, before former President Yoon Suk-yeol declared martial law. However, he did attend the Cabinet meeting held at approximately 4:27 a.m. on the 4th, after the National Assembly passed the resolution demanding the lifting of the emergency martial law.
