Police have concluded that there is no suspicion regarding the allegation that special operation expenses were used for the clothing of former President Moon Jae-in's wife, Kim Jung-sook.
According to police on the 21st, the Seoul Police Agency's Anti-Corruption Investigation Unit has processed Kim's alleged violation of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes regarding government fund losses as 'no suspicion' and decided not to pursue charges on the 29th of last month.
Kim was suspected of using special operation expenses to purchase clothing during Moon's presidency. The civic group Citizens' Livelihood Countermeasures Committee reported to the police in March 2022, suspecting that Kim had pressured a person in charge of special operation expenses to purchase expensive clothes and accessories.
The Blue House stated at the time, 'There has never been a budget for national finances such as special operation expenses allocated and used for the purpose of clothing purchases as the spouse of the president,' adding, 'It was paid out of personal funds.'
