From 2 p.m. on the 20th, nationwide civil defense drills will be conducted.
The drills will be conducted based on a hypothetical air raid situation. They will begin with an air raid warning, followed by a precautionary alert, and then the cancellation of the warning.
The air raid warning will be issued precisely at 2 p.m. Civil defense sirens will sound nationwide, and a warning broadcast will be made along with safety guidance text messages being sent out. At this time, individuals should quickly evacuate to the nearest civil defense shelter or nearby underground space.
Civil defense shelters include apartment basements, subway stations, and underground shopping malls. There are approximately 17,000 across the country. These can be checked on Naver, Daum, KakaoMap, T map, Naver Maps, and the Safe Step application. If there is no shelter nearby, individuals should go to the underground spaces of surrounding buildings.
After that, when the precautionary alert is issued at around 2:15 p.m., individuals can come out of the shelters and move about.
The drills are expected to conclude with the cancellation of the warning at around 2:20 p.m.
The Ministry of Interior and Safety plans to focus on training for giving way to emergency vehicles during this civil defense drill. Vehicle drivers should turn on their hazard lights and proceed slowly when emergency vehicles such as fire trucks and ambulances approach during the drills.
