Law firm BKL(Bae, Kim & Lee) announced on the 20th that it has hired former head of market surveillance department Kim Kyung-kyu of the Korea Exchange as a consultant.
Consultant Kim worked for about 34 years at the Korea Exchange and the Financial Supervisory Service from 1991 in positions such as head of the market surveillance department and head of the special audit department for short selling, responsible for examining listings of corporations and investigating unfair trading in the capital markets, as well as detecting and sanctioning short selling. Until recently, he served as an advisor to the Korea Association of Securities Companies and as part of the KRX faculty at the Korea Exchange's management support headquarters.
Based on his experience in market monitoring, investigations, audits related to unfair trading, criteria for detecting illegal short selling, and the development of detection systems performed at the Korea Exchange's market surveillance department, Consultant Kim is expected to enhance the expertise of the Bae, Kim & Lee Financial Group and the financial and securities crime response team.
Prior to this, Bae, Kim & Lee took steps to strengthen expertise in financial regulation, digital finance, and capital markets by hiring former Financial Services Commission Chairman Ko Seung-beom, lawyers Kim Hyo-bong and Choi Heung-soo from the Financial Supervisory Service, and experts Song Young-doo and Ryu Han-seo.
Kim Hak-kyun, head of the Bae, Kim & Lee Financial Group, noted, "With the addition of Consultant Kim, the capacity of Bae, Kim & Lee's capital market investigation response has been significantly strengthened," adding, "We will strive to provide the highest level of solutions regarding the new government's policies."
