The Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency stated on the 20th that it has filed charges against Officer A (in his 50s) based on allegations of threatening his ex-girlfriend under the law regarding the punishment of stalking crimes.
Officer A is accused of visiting the workplace of his ex-girlfriend, Ms. B, causing a disturbance, and attempting phone calls multiple times.
Immediately after the incident, Officer A was subjected to emergency measures prohibiting access within 100 meters and through electric and communication means, as well as interim measures ranging from No. 1 to No. 3 in stalking cases.
If the interim measures are violated, a harsher penalty (up to 2 years in prison or a fine of up to 20 million won) can be imposed compared to the emergency measures.
A police official said, "Officer A has been suspended from his position, and we will take strict measures after a supervisory investigation based on the results of the investigation."
