Mrs. Kim appeared for the second special prosecutor investigation after being arrested on the 18th. The special prosecutor stated that during the investigation on that day, Mrs. Kim exercised her right to remain silent in most instances.
The special prosecutor said in a media briefing that afternoon, "(Mrs. Kim) arrived at the investigation site at 9:43 a.m. and began the investigation at 10 a.m.," adding, "The morning investigation ended at 11:42 a.m." The special prosecutor noted that during the morning investigation, "Mrs. Kim exercised her right to remain silent in most instances," occasionally saying, "I don't know" or "I don't remember."
He continued, "The review of the investigation document began at 1:30 p.m. and was completed, and in the afternoon, we are investigating the stock manipulation allegations related to Deutsch Motors." The special prosecutor investigated the allegations of intervention in candidate nominations and unfair election interference for about 1 hour and 40 minutes in the morning.
Earlier, Mrs. Kim was arrested on the 12th on charges of violating the Capital Markets Act and others. The special prosecutor first summoned Mrs. Kim after her arrest on the 14th to interrogate her about allegations of intervention in candidate nominations; however, Mrs. Kim exercised her right to remain silent in most instances. Excluding breaks, the investigation time amounted to just 2 hours and 9 minutes.
The special prosecutor is investigating allegations related to Mrs. Kim, including: ▲ involvement in stock manipulation at Deutsch Motors ▲ interference in the 2022 and 2024 elections ▲ bribery solicitation through a shaman for the Unification Church ▲ allegations of a luxury necklace during overseas trips.
Mrs. Kim is currently incarcerated at the Seoul Southern Detention Center. Her cell number is reported to be 4398. Generally, suspects for whom arrest warrants are issued by the Seoul Central District Court go to the Seoul Detention Center in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province. However, the former president Yoon Suk-yeol is currently incarcerated at the Seoul Detention Center. Consequently, the detention center requested that "Mrs. Kim be detained at another facility," and the court accepted this request.
