The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 17th that it will operate the 'Emergency Classroom Safety SEM' starting from the 18th to respond immediately to serious educational activity disruptions for students.
The Emergency Classroom Safety SEM is a program that rapidly deploys specialized personnel to provide close support when situations such as ▲class disruptions ▲verbal and physical abuse ▲property damage occur within schools. The personnel consist of experts with extensive experience in education and counseling, including former teachers, counselors, and youth welfare workers.
They support ▲separation and guidance of students disrupting educational activities ▲accompaniment to and from school ▲psychological and emotional mentoring ▲stabilization of class and daily guidance. When a school applies for the Emergency Classroom Safety SEM to the education support office, it can receive support for two weeks with less than 15 hours a week. Extensions are also possible if needed.
Seoul Superintendent of Education Jeong Geun-sik said, "It will contribute not only to protecting teachers' educational activities but also to creating a safe learning environment for all students," and added, "We will actively support teachers who request help at any time so they do not have to struggle alone."
