The Seoul city government announced on the 17th that it will conduct an 'air raid preparedness civil defense drill' for 20 minutes starting at 2 p.m. on the 20th to enhance citizens' response capabilities during emergencies.
The drill will proceed in the order of air raid alert (2:00 p.m.) to warning alert (2:15 p.m.) to alert cancellation (2:20 p.m.). When the air raid alert is issued across Seoul, citizens should evacuate to the nearest building basement or civil defense shelter for 15 minutes, and vehicles operating in the area of the traffic control training section on Sejong-daero (from the Sejong-daero intersection to the Sungnyemun intersection) must stop on the right side for 5 minutes.
A total of 2,910 civil defense shelters have been designated, including those in apartment basements, subway stations, and underground shopping malls. They can be searched on the National Disaster and Safety Portal, the Seoul Safety Nuri website, the Safety Dideumdol app, and on Kakao Maps and T Map.
To improve awareness of emergency vehicles and enhance citizen safety consciousness, training to yield to emergency vehicles such as fire, rescue, and emergency personnel will also be conducted. This yield training will focus on one section per autonomous district in habitual traffic congestion areas with four or more lanes, including Sejong-daero.
When the warning alert is issued, citizens who are evacuated to shelters, etc., can move around while maintaining a state of alert, and after the cancellation of the alert is announced, they can return to their daily lives.
