The Marine Corps special investigation team plans to summon Kim Dong-hyuk, former Director General of the Ministry of National Defense, for the second time on the 15th for questioning. Former Director General Kim had previously undergone the special investigation team's first round of questioning on the 13th.
On the 14th, Special Prosecutor Jeong Min-young noted in a morning briefing, "We plan to call in former Director General Kim again for questioning at 10 a.m. on the 15th," adding, "It seems likely that we will need to conduct further inquiries for a few more days thereafter."
The special investigation team intends to confirm whether former Director General Kim committed illegal acts during the process of placing Colonel Park Jeong-hoon, who investigated the death of Private Cha, under investigation for collective command refusal and retrieving the case record from the police.
Regarding this case, the special investigation team plans to summon Yoo Jae-eun, legal management officer of the Ministry of National Defense, for questioning on the 18th. Special Prosecutor Jeong stated, "It has been identified that Officer Yoo played various roles in the process of the prosecution team unlawfully accessing the investigation records of the death of Private Cha," and added, "We plan to comprehensively confirm the interactions and directives exchanged between the presidential office, the Ministry of National Defense, and the military prosecution at that time through the investigation."
Meanwhile, the special investigation team is currently investigating former Minister of National Defense Lee Jong-seob's overseas escape allegations, having begun questioning Park Haeng-yeol, former Director General of the Ministry of Justice's Personnel Information Management Division, from the morning of the same day. Former Director General Park was in charge of the Personnel Information Management Division at the Ministry of Justice when former Minister Lee was appointed ambassador to Australia and departed for overseas. The Personnel Information Management Division of the Ministry of Justice is responsible for the personnel verification of high-ranking officials.
