A closed mediation session regarding the contract dispute between the girl group NewJeans and its agency ADOR will be held on the 14th.
The 41st Civil Affairs Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Director General Jeong Hoe-il) is currently proceeding with the mediation process of the lawsuit filed by ADOR for the confirmation of the validity of the exclusive contract against the five members of NewJeans, starting at 2 p.m. today.
On this day, Kim Min-ji and Daniel from the five members of NewJeans attended the court in person. The court had previously requested the members involved to attend directly.
Both sides have engaged in a fierce legal battle surrounding the termination of the exclusive contract. The ADOR side claims, "The company's exclusive contract is still valid and there are no grounds for termination," while the NewJeans side contends, "The trust relationship has been broken due to the ousting of former representative Min Hee-jin, which serves as grounds for termination."
The court plans to listen to both sides' opinions that day and will attempt to resolve the dispute. It is reported that the NewJeans members will also express their positions in court.
If the mediation fails, the court plans to announce a ruling on October 30.
