Kim Keon-hee's special investigation team is conducting a search and seizure at the People Power Party's headquarters on the morning of the 13th in connection with the 'Gunjin Lawsa solicitation suspicion.'
The special investigation team noted in a notice that morning, "We are executing a search and seizure warrant at the People Power Party's headquarters in connection with the solicitation suspicions regarding Gunjin Lawsa, as part of a request for the submission of electronic data."
The search and seizure that day is related to allegations that Jeon Seong-bae of Gunjin Lawsa solicited a nomination for the governor of Bonghwa-gun in Gyeongbuk from Kweon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People Power Party, during the local elections in 2022.
Allegations have also been raised that Jeon and Yoon Young-ho, the former head of the Unification Church's global headquarters, attempted to recruit a large number of Unification Church members into the People Power Party ahead of the party's convention in January 2023 to make Representative Kweon the party leader.
Representative Kweon is reported to have delivered a congratulatory speech at the "Korea Dreamer Festival, Youth Neuron 2024" event held by former Deputy Minister Yoon on June 22 of last year at Sejong University in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul.
Earlier, on the 18th of last month, the special investigation team sent investigators to Representative Kweon's National Assembly office and his district office in Gangneung to conduct a search and seizure.
