According to the Korea meteorological Administration, as of 12 p.m. on this day, a heavy rain warning is in effect, mainly in the metropolitan area and Gangwon Province. There are areas experiencing very strong and heavy rain of 30 to 100 mm per hour, accompanied by gusts and thunder and lightning. A heavy rain alert is in effect for regions in Seoul, excluding the southeastern area.
From 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on this day, the precipitation amounts included 112.2 mm at Gimpo Airport in Seoul, 105 mm in Goyang, 100 mm in Gimpo, 34.6 mm in Incheon, and 30 mm in Seoul.
From midnight to 12 p.m. on this day, the precipitation amounts included 217 mm in Jangbongdo, Incheon, 213.5 mm at Gimpo Airport in Seoul, 154.2 mm in Incheon, 106.5 mm in Seoul, 40.6 mm in Suwon, 53 mm in Hoengseong, 49.1 mm in Wonju, and 43.2 mm in Jecheon, North Chungcheong Province.
At 1:10 p.m. on this day, the Han River Flood Control Center issued a flood advisory for Jungnangcheong in Seoul. The areas targeted by the advisory include Uijeongbu, Gwangjin-gu, Nowon-gu, Dobong-gu, Dongdaemun-gu, Seongdong-gu, Seongbuk-gu, and Jungnang-gu.
A flood advisory is issued when the river water level reaches about 50% of the planned flood level. The planned flood level at Jungnang Bridge is 7.89 m. The water level at Jungnangcheong at Jungnang Bridge is expected to reach the flood advisory level of 5 m at 1:40 a.m. The embankment height is 9.28 m.
The city of Seoul is restricting access to all 29 rivers in the city, including Cheonggyecheon and Anyangcheon. Three roads are also closed. The underpass at Jungnang Bridge has been restricted since 11:25 a.m., the underpass at Gaehwa-dong since 11:53 a.m., and the eastern beltway (in both directions) since 12:04 p.m.
A 'flood forecast' has been issued for nine autonomous districts, including Gangseo-gu, Eunpyeong-gu, Seodaemun-gu, Mapo-gu, Jongno-gu, Nowon-gu, Dobong-gu, Gangbuk-gu, and Seongbuk-gu.
