Kim Keon-hee's special investigation team raided the interior company 21gram and the Board of Audit and Inspection on the 13th in connection with the transfer allegations regarding the official residence.
The special investigation team stated in a notice that day that they are conducting a search and seizure against related companies, including 21gram, and residences of related individuals for alleged violations of the Construction Industry Basic Law in connection with the transfer.
21gram is suspected of preferential contracting related to the official residence expansion contract. The allegation is that they secured the construction of the official residence in exchange for sponsoring Kobana Contents, operated by Kim Keon-hee. Earlier, the Board of Audit and Inspection announced in September of last year that 21gram, among others, participated in the official residence transfer construction through a non-competitive contract despite lacking qualifications. However, there have been criticisms that the Board of Audit and Inspection did not sufficiently investigate the core allegations, such as the specific circumstances under which 21gram took over the project.
Kim Tae-young, the representative of 21gram, is an alumnus of the Graduate School of National University with Kim Keon-hee. It is reported that the wife of the 21gram representative, Ms. Jo, accompanied to pay the additional fee when she exchanged a Chanel bag given as a gift by former Presidential Secretary Yoo Kyung-ok and former Unification Church World Headquarters chief Yoon Young-ho.
Meanwhile, the former Vice Minister Kim was the person who oversaw the construction of the transfer project as the management secretary of the former presidential office. It was investigated that the former Vice Minister, who was the overall person in charge at the time, did not take appropriate action even after receiving the audit results in September of last year.
