A worker in his 30s who was performing logging work in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province, was killed when a tree fell on him. The deceased worker was reportedly affiliated with a subcontractor of the Korea Expressway Corporation.
According to the North Gyeongsang Province Fire Department and others on the 13th, around 9:39 a.m. that day, a worker identified as A, in his 30s, was involved in an accident when a tree fell on him while he was cutting a dead tree near the Seo-Andong interchange on the Nori Central Expressway in Poongsan.
A was transported to Andong Hospital in a state of cardiac arrest by 119 firefighters, but he ultimately died.
At the time, it was reported that there were five workers, including A, present at the site.
The company A was affiliated with had a contract with the Korea Expressway Corporation and was engaged in landscaping work within North Gyeongsang Province.
The Andong and Pohang branches of the Ministry of Employment and Labor halted logging work following the accident. They also began an investigation to confirm potential violations of the Industrial Safety and Health Act and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
