Seoul City announced on the 13th that it has imposed a resident tax of 99.6 billion won this year.
The resident tax imposition targets heads of households residing in Seoul as of July 1 and foreigners who have been in the country for more than a year. Corporations with business locations in Seoul and individual business owners with value-added taxes taxable bases exceeding 80 million won from the previous year are also subject.
They must pay the resident tax by September 1. Payments can be made through the Seoul City ETAX, Seoul City STAX (mobile app), apps from convenient payment services such as Kakao Pay, Naver Pay, Payco, Toss, Shinhan, KB Kookmin, Hana, Samsung, and Woori Card, dedicated account payments, bank ATMs, etc. Payments can also be made by phone.
This year, the total number of individual resident tax cases imposed by Seoul City is 3.84 million, amounting to 22.1 billion won. Each household must pay a resident tax of 4,800 won and a local education tax of 1,200 won, totaling 6,000 won.
The current status of the resident tax imposition shows 3.69 million cases for nationals (21.2 billion won) and 150,000 cases for foreigners (900 million won).
Among the foreigners subject to the resident tax, the largest number is from China, with 94,627 cases. The districts with the highest number of foreign residents are Guro District with 16,589 cases, Yeongdeungpo District with 15,091 cases, and Geumcheon District with 11,926 cases.
By district, Songpa District has the highest number of cases at 55,081 (1.5 billion won), followed by Gangseo District and Gangnam District.
The total number of business resident tax cases is 780,000, amounting to 77.5 billion won. Among these, corporations account for 400,000 cases (50.9 billion won), while individual business owners account for 380,000 cases (26.6 billion won).
Lee Sang-hoon, head of the Seoul City Finance Bureau, noted, "We are providing various services to enable taxpayers to pay their taxes more conveniently, so please make sure to pay your resident tax by the deadline."
