On the 12th, the Uijeongbu Fire Station in Gyeonggi Province awarded a certificate of appreciation to Kwon Min-ji for her role in saving a precious life.
Kwon discovered a man in his 50s, referred to as A, collapsed on the road in Yonghyeon-dong, Uijeongbu, while riding her bicycle around 11:27 a.m. on the 12th of last month. She immediately stopped her bicycle, called 119, and promptly performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) that she learned at school.
The arriving paramedics used a defibrillator to administer emergency treatment, and A regained his breathing and pulse at the scene. After receiving intensive care at the hospital, A was discharged without any aftereffects and is continuing his daily life.
A fire department official noted, "The survival rate of cardiac arrest patients depends on whether cardiopulmonary resuscitation is performed within the critical first four minutes, known as the golden time," adding, "Kwon Min-ji's quick emergency treatment played a crucial role in saving a precious life."
