An incident occurred at a famous hotel in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, where a women's sauna and changing room were exposed to the outside. After the incident, the hotel suspended the sauna operation and began replacing the aging glass film.
On the 8th, a post titled 'Women's sauna visible from the outside?!' was uploaded to an online community.
The author, a person surnamed A, said, "A few days ago, I went on a family trip to a famous hotel in the North Gyeongsang region for a three-night stay" and noted, "I never expected this trip would turn into a nightmare."
A mentioned, "After visiting the hotel sauna with my two children, aged 7 and 5, on the last evening, I saw a shirtless person walking back and forth from around the 3rd floor while we were taking a walk in the grass square on the first floor. At first, I thought it was a men's sauna because of the humidity, but considering the flow of movement, it turned out to be a women's sauna."
He claimed, "The exposed person's wing bones were clearly visible, and since my wife is quite tall, her lower body probably would have been fully visible."
A immediately reported the situation to the hotel manager, but the manager replied, "The sauna glass has a privacy film applied, so it cannot be seen from the outside."
However, when A presented photos taken from outside, the manager was startled and began to verify, confirming that the interior of the women's sauna could indeed be easily seen from outside.
According to A, an even more serious issue arose in the changing room on the 5th floor. The pathway for undressing in a state of nudity and descending the stairs to enter the sauna was fully exposed, and it was at a level where even the clothes worn could be identified, beyond just shadowy outlines behind the curtains.
Following the incident, the hotel placed a notice in front of the sauna entrance stating, "The film attached to the sauna glass has rapidly aged due to high temperatures and unusual weather, raising concerns about external exposure at night," and it is reported that the film on both the men's and women's sauna glass has been reinstalled.
However, A pointed out that the notice was posted only at the sauna entrance and did not include an official apology for the affected customers.
A stated, "Our request is for the hotel to acknowledge and apologize for the fact that the bodies of female sauna customers were exposed on the website," adding, "The person in charge said, 'I talked to the company's lawyer, and taking photos showing the exposure situation from the outside is illegal.' There's no point in discussing this further."
He continued, "I spoke to the Deputy Minister of the hotel twice, but ultimately, the conclusion was 'Calm down.' We are not seeking compensation at all. I believe the hotel should apologize to everyone who experienced this exposure incident. I just hope those who used that hotel's sauna see this post and know about it."
As the controversy grew, the hotel posted an apology on its website on the 11th.
The hotel apologized, saying, "We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our customers due to the deterioration of the privacy film performance in the sauna facility," and stated, "We will conduct regular checks to prevent recurrence."
