A man in his 50s who threatened to blow up the Seoul Detention Center where former President Yoon Suk-yeol is imprisoned was arrested by the police.
On the 12th, the Anyang Manan Police Station announced that they had urgently arrested a person surnamed A on charges of making a public threat.
According to the police, A is suspected of making a threat by calling the police civil complaint call center (182) at around 4:27 a.m. that day, saying, 'I will bring something to the Seoul Detention Center where former President Yoon Suk-yeol is and blow it up.'
The call center operator immediately reported to 112, and the police apprehended him on the street near the residence of A's acquaintance in Anyang at around 5:18 a.m., about 50 minutes later.
A police official noted, 'A has fallen asleep after his arrest and is yet to be interrogated,' adding, 'The details regarding his alcohol consumption and the motive for the crime will be confirmed later.'
Earlier, around 10 a.m. the previous day, a drunken man in his 60s, surnamed B, was arrested after making a false report stating, 'I will blow up a construction building in the area,' and was referred to summary judgment.
On the same day at around 9:30 a.m., a report was received that explosives were planted in a department store located in Gwangju, and on the afternoon of the 10th at around 2 p.m., a report was made that explosives had been planted in the KSPO Dome (gymnastics arena) in Olympic Park, Songpa District, Seoul, ahead of a performance by the group The Boyz; however, all were revealed to be false.
