Korea Minting, Security Printing &ID Card Operating Corporation (KOMSCO) and Sungsimdang have jointly introduced the 'Liberation Day Bread' to commemorate the 80th anniversary of liberation, receiving great responses from consumers.
According to Korea Minting, Security Printing &ID Card Operating Corporation (KOMSCO) on the 11th, the 'Liberation Day Bread' is a product born from the collaboration of the corporation's design planning ability and Sungsimdang's baking technology to celebrate the 80th anniversary of liberation. It carries historical significance based on various experiences in producing historical content such as commemorative coins for the 100th anniversary of the March 1st Movement and the 70th anniversary of liberation.
The product design is inspired by the 'Denny Taegeukgi,' which is the oldest Taegeukgi in Korea, arranged in a way that allows citizens to feel patriotism in their daily lives. On Liberation Day, Sungsimdang plans to produce mini Denny Taegeukgis to present to purchasing customers.
'Liberation Day Bread' is receiving positive reviews on social media as 'a meaningful commemorative gift' and 'a significant souvenir beyond being a dessert.'
The product comes in a box containing 4 madeleines, priced at 5,000 won (including VAT). It will be sold in limited quantities at all Sungsimdang locations until the 17th of this month. Inside the box, there is also a brochure featuring the meaning of liberation along with the Denny Taegeukgi.
The Denny Taegeukgi is designated as National Heritage No. 2140 and is receiving attention due to K-culture's popularity, with goods utilizing it selling out at the National Museum of Korea, the institution holding it.
This year, to honor the historical significance of the 80th anniversary of liberation meaningfully, part of the sales proceeds from the Liberation Day Bread will be jointly donated to the descendants of independence activists under the jurisdiction of the Daejeon Regional Veterans Affairs Office.
Meanwhile, Sungsimdang and Korea Minting, Security Printing &ID Card Operating Corporation (KOMSCO) first launched 'Liberation Bread' on August 1st last year, achieving sales of about 100 million won (21,870 pieces) in just 2 weeks.
