On the 7th, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that it will provide 6.5 billion won in earmarked tax (special) to local governments that have been newly designated as special disaster areas among the regions affected by heavy rainfall in July.
The regions eligible for this earmarked tax (special) include Gwangju Metropolitan City, Sejong City, Gyeonggi Province, Chungbuk, Chungnam, Jeonnam, Gyeongbuk, and Gyeongnam.
This support was decided to assist the emergency recovery of areas affected by heavy rainfall. The earmarked tax (special) is expected to be utilized for emergency measures to support disaster victims, emergency restoration of damaged facilities, and to prevent secondary damages.
Earlier, the government provided earmarked tax (special) for regions affected by heavy rainfall on the 17th, 21st, and 24th of July.
Minister Yoon Ho-jung noted, "We will spare no necessary support to ensure that the areas affected by heavy rainfall are restored as soon as possible."
