On the 6th, the special investigation team is questioning Hong Cheol-ho, a former chief of political affairs in the presidential office, as a witness.
Special investigator Park Ji-young noted during a press briefing that they are questioning the former chief starting at 1:30 p.m.
The special investigation team is expected to investigate the actions of presidential office officials before and after the declaration of martial law on Dec. 3. However, Park stated, "It is difficult to confirm specific allegations related to the investigation."
Hong was appointed as the chief of political affairs in the presidential office during Yoon Suk-yeol's term and retired in May.
Meanwhile, Park noted that they are also questioning Kim Dae-jin, president of the Korea National University of Arts, and Kim Dae-gyeong, former head of the Presidential Security Service.
The Korea National University of Arts, an institution under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, reportedly sent students home on the afternoon of Dec. 3 last year, when the former president declared martial law, and restricted campus access until the following day. The special investigation team is expected to investigate the reasons behind the school's restrictions with President Kim Dae-jin.
Former head Kim Dae-gyeong is known to have been responsible for managing secure phones. He is under suspicion of being involved in the process of providing secure phones to former Army intelligence chief Noh Sang-won, who is accused of planning the Dec. 3 martial law in advance.
However, Park stated, "It's difficult to confirm specific details of the investigation as confidentiality is necessary for the investigation."
