Kim Keon-hee's special investigation team resumed the questioning of Mrs. Kim from 1 p.m. on the 6th. The morning session was conducted from 10:23 a.m. to 11:59 a.m., lasting about 1 hour and 36 minutes. The interrogation was conducted without video recording as Mrs. Kim did not wish to have the session recorded.
Mrs. Kim appeared as a suspect that day under charges of violating the Capital Market Act, disseminating falsehoods in violation of the Public Official Election Act, and violations of the Public Officials Ethics Act, among others.
Around 10:11 a.m., Mrs. Kim arrived at the Seoul KT Gwanghwamun Building, where the special investigation team's office is located, and expressed, "I apologize for causing concern to the public as someone insignificant like me," before entering the interrogation room. This is the first time a presidential spouse has publicly appeared as a suspect before investigative authorities.
The special investigation team reportedly plans to first investigate five major allegations surrounding Mrs. Kim, for which some level of inquiry has already been conducted.
The five major allegations include: ▲ allegations that she received luxury bags and necklaces through Jeon Seong-bae from the New Hope Church and helped resolve issues concerning the church; ▲ allegations of involvement in stock price manipulation related to Deutsch Motors; ▲ allegations of interference in candidate nominations for elections in 2022 and 2024.
